About the artist
Jaqulin Joseph
Artist, photographer, sculptor, author, and educator.
Jaqulin Joseph is a New Orleans–based multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves across painting, mixed media, assemblage, bronze sculpture, photography, writing, and functional art. Through bold color, layered surfaces, found materials, and storytelling, her work explores memory, identity, womanhood, ancestry, belonging, resilience, and the emotional histories carried by the body.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans. Her creative life has also included arts education, community work, exhibition development, and gallery leadership. In San Diego, she founded and operated Abstrax Arts Gallery & Photography Studio, creating space for art, artists, collectors, and community to meet.
Across disciplines, the materials may change, but the central question remains: what do we carry, what survives, and what can be transformed?
